The speed of the fluids through the device causes the elements/minerals within the water to physically separate based on their molecular weight without the use of filters. The image on the left is the MST device currently setup in the testing facility. The gauges are only installed for testing purposes. The diagram below depicts the filtration range provided by the MST device. Click either image to view a larger image.
How MST Works
The principles of hydro-cyclone technology are the basis for the MST device. The separator is designed to work under high pressure to generate extremely high centrifugal forces in a plenum chamber. The high g-force results in the formation of an internal vortex and promotes the segregation of heavier molecular species from the lighter molecular species. Because precision machined Venturi ports generate the high entry velocity of liquids without the use of moving parts, the separator functions with minimal maintenance or operator attention.
Why Use MST
The MST separator has the potential to provide a cost effective alternative for reclaiming industrial wastewater or improving sub-standard water supplies from wells or reservoirs. Constructed out of stainless steel with an easy to maintain, filterless operation and a small footprint it provides easy integration for supplementing or complementing existing systems, the MST device can help with the following:
- Removes 20-40 percent of salt from sea water (single pass)
- Removes suspended particles down to 10 microns (single pass)
- Removes 10-30 percent of dissolved solids (single pass)
- MST device fits in the preprocessing of water or fuel to remove containments
- No chemical doping required
- High throughput at 100 gallons per minute
- Fits military and government needs with low maintenance applications due to no gears or moving parts and little to no operator requirements
